Pashan Lake

Introduction

This charming water body, located off the road that leads to the National Defence Academy, is a popular spot for Pune-ites who arrive to unwind during the cool evenings or after a hectic week of work. Offering a stunning view of the sunset, it is a favorite spot for nature lovers and bird-watchers alike. During post-monsoon and summers, it serves as the natural habitat for a variety of bird species, while during winters several migratory birds flock to this area.

However, due to continuous dumping of chemical products in the lake and siltation, not only has the 50ft deep lake now become shallower by 30 ft, but more and more of these feathered visitors are also turning their backs to what was once their regular resting place. Keeping this scenario in mind, plans are afoot to transform the area into a bird sanctuary.

A bird lover's paradise.
